Associated Press Continues to Embrace “Assault Rifle” Terminology

Associated Press Continues to Embrace “Assault Rifle” Terminology

Despite being purposefully misleading and politically driven, the terms “assault rifle” and “assault weapon” used when referring to modern sporting arms primarily built on the AR platform continue to be included in the official vernacular of the world’s oldest and largest newsgathering organization, the Associated Press.

Updates and revisions made to the AP Stylebook this week regarding firearms and weapons terminology include a detailed description of what the journalistic organization considers standard usage for newspaper and electronic media editors and reporters.

The AP Stylebook was created in 1953 and continues to be the go-to guide outlining grammar, writing style and word choice for working journalists—and journalism schools—across the country and around the world.

So what does the AP consider the 7,000 fully automatic M-16’s that the DHS just ordered? Janet Napolitano calls them “defensive weapons.” Citizen’s semi-autos are “assault weapons,” but the DHS fully automatic M-16’s are “defensive?” Just more double talk from Obama’s brown nosing bureaucrat.

DHS doesn’t want to respond to congressional questions and unfortunately there isn’t a congresscritter with big enough testes to make them answer.

All in the Congress and Senate are either brown shirts and those who aren’t are RINO’s who like the free stuff from the money of the people, if we go to war, take them out first as they hate freedom and love the devil and all he gives these immoral men and women.

The United States Defense Department’s Defense Intelligence Agency book Small Arms Identification and Operation Guide explains:“assault rifles” are “short, compact, selective-fire weapons that fire a cartridge intermediate in power between submachine gun and rifle cartridges.” In other words, assault rifles are battlefield rifles that are capable of full-automatic fire.
With very few exceptions (Class III firearms that are highly regulated) the ARs and AKs in the hands of American citizens are semi-automatic only, and are not the dreaded “assault rifles”. The liberal media and the Obama Administration continue to use false “scare” terminology in their attempts to disarm law-abiding citizens.

If Comander in Chief Obama sent troups into battle with the guns AP is calling “Asault Rifles” he would be impeached. He would be using a perverse consistancy by pushing something else that is not what he claims it to be. AP has lost its journalistic ethics by deleberately helping with the deception.
