ACLU Launches Investigation Into Militarization of Police Depts.

ACLU Launches Investigation Into Militarization of Police Depts.

Like visits from Haley’s Comet, the ACLU and I generally agree on something once every 75 years or so. Their latest campaign, though, looking at the increasing militarization of police departments is one of those rare events. What’s somewhat ironic about this is that the ACLU is usually considered a left-leaning organization and many members hail from the liberal side of the political spectrum. That said, it seems that the quiet Rambofication of our nation’s police departments can no longer continue under the radar . . .

Federal funding in the billions of dollars has allowed state and local police departments to gain access to weapons and tactics created for overseas combat theaters – and yet very little is known about exactly how many police departments have military weapons and training, how militarized the police have become, and how extensively federal money is incentivizing this trend. It’s time to understand the true scope of the militarization of policing in America and the impact it is having in our neighborhoods. On March 6th, ACLU affiliates in 23 states filed over 255 public records requests with law enforcement agencies and National Guard offices to determine the extent to which federal funding and support has fueled the militarization of state and local police departments. Stay tuned as this project develops.

I have a lot of family members that are on the force at one level or another. If you want to know why police forces are more “military” all you have to do is look at the force and see how many are prior service military. I don’t believe that is a shocker. I do understand and believe that some police officers abuse their authority but I don’t think that it is right or correct to generalize and apply that to ALL police officers.

The FBI brought in SS to reorganize after WW2, it is right and correct to generalize when all law enforcement begins its field training by learning how to treat people like prisoners. All law enforcement considers themselves separately from ‘civilians’ and in California have 21 gun salutes (reserved for heads of state) with thousands on payroll attending their televised funerals, as if a leader of a nation had sadly been taken too soon.
Civilian law enforcement is civilian, whether they believe it or not and are not entitled to 21 gun salutes like heads of state.

The ACLU is probably looking for ways to cool down the public outrage over this by “investigating”. Normally, they couldn’t find a communist in Russia, let alone a leftist doing anything wrong on the sly.

Wrong, our out of control GOVERMENT is the real cause for alarm. I rarely agree with anything the ACLU says or does, but, this is definitely one of those times and issue where I do agree.compelely.
I have been warning against the militarization of the state and local law enforcement departments for more than tweny years, but especially after 9/11/01.

The ACLU apparently is not receiving their monthly quotas of concealed carry permits and off books auto weapons for controlling the evils of society

Nobody really trust’s the ACLU, that’s for sure. Maybe this time, “WE THE PEOPLE” will win – IF – the ACLU does find their answer’s.

If the ACLU is doing anything look for the real motive. There is nothing they do that is not directly related to destroying the Constitution.

I was told by the ACLU that the only thing that they will go after is gay rights and things of that sort. That they didn’t have the money to go after other things. This time they got it right. The President is GAY!!!!!

The Ahole Communist Lovers Union must be afraid these police forces will be more loyal to the constitution than Dear Leader.
