Gun Control Laws to Blame For California’s Rise in Crime

The city of San Bernardino is feeling the effects of California’s restrictive gun laws. The 50% increase in crime compared to last year is being blamed on a dwindling police force that’s being subjected to cuts because of the city’s bankruptcy. That may be part of it because people have perhaps grown dependent on the police to provide protection. But California’s gun control laws are some of the worst in the nation.

In order to get a carry concealed weapon license (CCW), you have to convince the police department in your interview with them that you actually have “good cause” to carry a gun. Saying that you need one for general self-defense is not good enough. Your life has to be in imminent danger, and you have to be able to prove it to them.

Out of the 2 million residents in San Bernardino County (San Bernardino city sits in the southwest corner of the county), only 2,800 have been allowed CCW’s by the county’s police department.

Come on guys, get the facts correct. County’s have sheriff departments. Cities have police departments. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department provides law enforcement within the entire county. The cities in the county provide police services within the city limits of each city.

I guess you people who live on the east coast are unfamiliar with the constitutional government divisions. The sheriff is the top cop when it comes to jurisdiction in law enforcement. I have heard that there are places in Maryland and New Jersey that are trying to get rid of the sheriff’s departments (and sheriff deputy’s aren’t even allowed to carry guns)? Just another assault on the Constitution!

Are you kidding The last time I called the sheriff it took them over 12 hours to dispatch anyone. if you think that the sheriff is going to help you are very much mistaken.

You had better be prepared to defend yourself and what’s yours. The concept that law enforcement actually protects you is a fallacy. They just come to take notes and collect evidence after the crime has been committed.

Hey, when you have a lawless bunch running the country what do you expect. The second amendment gives me the God given right to have a gun and protect myself and family. NO one will ever take that right away from me, NO one. So all the stinking laws they have can not stop the criminal from getting guns and using them, and so shall I.

…why can’t we charge the anti-gun nuts with these crimes! they are solely responsible, brown, boxer, feinstein, etc….all anti-gun…..where are the civil rights for the civilians?

The civil rights have been reserved for the criminals, the law abiding have no rights.

No doubt about the state in Ca contributing to crime and endangering the legal citizens, increasing the criminals on the street by prison release, reducing of law enforcement because of misdirected funds keeping citizens from using self defense by over taxing, regulating guns and ammo that drive up cost unnecessarily and siding with criminals commiting violent crimes to punish and persecute gun owners…the government is just as criminal as those we put in prisons…The solution is to imprison those legislators who pass such irresponsible laws and allow right to carry by legal citizens….

Some fail to understand that the police have no obligation to come between you and an armed assailant. All they need do is clean up the mess afterward. It really frustrates me that decent people in California can’t get a CCW when the local government knows how bad it is. There have been four murders within 5 blocks of my house this year alone! All I hear out of the police is “If you’re afraid for the safety of your family, then move”. It’s not that easy when your house is paid for and you’ve lived there 35 years and raised your kids there. My solution is simple: I carry a .357 illegally with the philosophy that it’s better to get caught with one when you don’t need it than to get caught without one when you really do. Bad guys beware, I’m not the guy you want to fu%k with…

Better to be tried by 12 than to be carried by 6

What I am unable to understand is that with all the evidence that gun control does NOT work, AND gun ownership REDUCES crime, how can ANY intelligent human back gun control.

The governor that we have in CAL is the most anti gun person that we have had sense the 1970s in fact we have the same one that we had in the 1970s again.

If the Police are smart they will issue permits to every citizen and scae the hell out of the criminals. short of that the citizens should sue the state in a class action for violation of the constitution.
