Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.) said that Congress, by not taking a vote on more gun control legislation, is “complicit in the deaths and atrocities that take place,” at a Capitol Hill news conference on Tuesday. Several other Democratic congressmen stood with Larson as he spoke, as well as members of Team 26, a group of bicyclists who were embarking on their second annual Sandy Hook Ride.

“The United States Congress is complicit, the United States Congress shares the responsibility, the United States Congress by not, even in the House of Representatives, taking a vote, is complicit in the deaths and the atrocities that take place because of the lack of action, on the part of the United States Congress,” Larson said.

“Senator Murphy is correct, silence equals being complicit,” said Larson. “It is long overdue for this Congress to act. I’m proud to stand with the delegation, from top to bottom, who is solidly behind this initiative, and further always encouraged and inspired by Monti and Team 26 and everybody who stays committed to this great challenge, this great calling of our age.”
