Tomorrow, when the Dallas Safari Club gives a rich man a license to kill a critically endangered species for sport, a great sin will occur.

The black rhinoceros is an impressive and cartoony creature that doesn’t eat other animals and needs our help. Poachers, predation and loss of habitat have reduced its wild numbers to fewer than 5,000, which puts it on the critically endangered list. Why would someone pay up to a million dollars to kill a large, rare animal? So they can have a trophy and a story that they tell their grandkids?

Yes. And because they love the animal.
