727-pound alligator: Less than three days into the start of alligator hunting season, a giant 727-pound gator was caught this week in Mississippi, chomping down on heaviest gator records. This isn’t the only huge animal captured, though, as 2 gators were reeled in: a 723-pound alligator was also found in the massive hunting prior to the big catch, breaking another state record beforehand, FOX News shared this Tuesday, Sept 3.
A 727-pound alligator is the heaviest gator ever caught and recorded in Mississippi during alligator hunting season, the state Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks confirmed this week. An expert team of gator hunters hailing from Madison soon held the coveted weight gator record for little under an hour after bringing in a 723-pound alligator, which beat the record by a full 26 pounds.
Just then, a new record was chomped down on by an even heavier giant male alligator, a catch made by Dustin Bockman and his team, who come from Vicksburg. The 727-pound alligator was over 13 feet long and was shot and killed using a crossbow along the Mississippi River, confirmed the Hattiesburg American in their report.
