2nd Amend.

Obama: “All in all, this was a pretty shameful day for Washington”

Supporters of new gun control legislation are vowing to ramp up their campaign for expanded background checks despite suffering a major defeat in the Senate Wednesday, threatening to overpower the gun lobby even if it takes years.

Likewise, critics of the legislation vowed to ensure any future proposals protect both “the lives and liberty” of Americans, teeing up a protracted legislative battle.

A Senate proposal to expand background checks to gun shows and Internet sales, while exempting personal transactions, failed on a 54-46 vote Wednesday. It needed 60 to pass.

Every day he remains in OUR White House is a shameful day

    • Country Lady

    • Ron

Exactly what I was going to say.

    • Ray – God Bless Israel.

The problem is not where Obama was born.
The problem is where he lives now.

  • Cougrrcj

All in all, this is EXACTLY how Washington is supposed to work Mr President! It is called Checks and Balances!!! Our Country’s founders were smart enough – yes, even waaaay back then – that there had to be a mechanism of ‘putting the brakes on’ ill-thought knee-jerk reactions to a non-existent problem.

    • mesaman

“All in all, this was a pretty shameful president in Washington that day”. And the terms, insipid, and egregious also come to mind.

  • Elizabeth

  • Cougar Smith

A shameful day for Washington but a PROUD AND WONDERFUL day for America!

  • buckofama2010

WRONG. The most shameful days were when he was fraudulently put in office. ovomitcare was another shameful day. This SOB thinks it is shameful to NOT crap on the Constitution??

    • covert1969

      Impeach this Mulatto fraud !

  • CaptTurbo

First thing the Senate has gotten right in a very long time!

    • marcyharris92

We all need to find the names of those 5 D Senators who voted for the 2nd amendment and send them letters and flowers and kudos on FB. It is important that they feel supported as they will be getting lots

      • DPMP

are the names of some Democrat Senators who told Obama “Go pound
sand!” by voting AGAINST Universal Background Checks yesterday!

        North Dakota
        Senator Heidi Heitkamp

        Senator Mark Pryor

        Alaska Senator
        Mark Begich

        Montana Senator
        Max Baucus

        • sandman

Every single one of them is from what the idiots in OUR WH call, (flyover America), all except of cause the one from what the same idiots in our wh call a (backwater state)! but the real reason they voted this way, is to stay in office, NOT for the reason we wanted them too! RattlerJake is correct! they only voted like that because of the fear their constituents put in them! But maybe, just maybe, they will see what is finaly the diff. between right and wrong!

        • covert1969

ThANK YOU LADY AND GENTLEMEN for following our governing Document, the Constitution, the Governing document of this Republic !

      • jdangiel

Baucus is behind Obama-couldn’t-care-less. The only thing you should send him is packing.

      • Rattlerjake

Let’s not get carried away. These morons are still worthless liberals, and only voted this way because their constituents probably made it clear what would happen in the next election. Regardless of their vote, ALL of these liberals and most of the RINO GOP need to be replaced with true Constitutionally minded CITIZEN PATRIOTS!

So let’s see how they vote on the illegal immigrant amnesty proposal. Let’s see how many stand up and impeach Obuthead and Holder. Etc.

  • Darius the Mede

From where I sit, it was a pretty good day for America, especially for the citizens of this country, whose president, senators and representatives are trying to disarm them and make them helpless before, first, the criminals, who, by nature, will not obey the law and will have weapons anyway; and the federal government who would rather have subjects rather than citizens and the only way to achieve this is to disarm the people. Don’t forget that the bottom line for the founders of this country in adding the 2nd Amendment, was to give the citizens a way to combat a government that could enslave them. Our government, starting with our so-callled president, thinks of themselves as an “elite” group, not bound by the same rules as we peons. They have armed security escort (our president has 9, I think, just protecting his children. My children had no one protecting them when they went to school.

    • Perry Wall

I hear that china wants us disarmed ,cause we own them so much that obama is going to let them come over here and get our oil ,coal, natural gas,and water and use our farmland,in payment.

  • John Spencer

Not nearly as shameful as the twice that stupid voters and fraudulent activists put the current incumbent into the White House.

    • Richard L. Misner

You are so right about what you just said.

  • FSHNT21

Barry gets really pissy when he doesn’t get his way….

Just MAYBE the legislators actually read the Bill (unlike Obamacare) or listened to their constituents this time instead of taking the Obama/ Biden/ Reid/ Pelosi Kool Aid flavor of the Month….

As far as shameful days… ?
Can’t possibly hold a candle to his 2 inauguration days….

  • Jerry

It wouldn’t be so bad but there was a lying piece of garbage trying to tell the American people sthat sthe majority supported what he was doing whie he just had 4% or less that drink his cool aide.

  • polmutant

every day the commie pink kenyan is not wrapped in a pigskin and dropped on mecca shiite hole, is a indeed a shamefull day.

  • jmortensen

Finally we have the politicians listening to “We the People” It’s about time they found out which side of the bread has butter on it .. their jobs depend on us and they better listen ..Now our next job is to get obamacare aborted ! this is the only legal abortion in America ..

  • Bob Martin

The mere fact of the Senate trying to ammend the 2nd instead of the voters is truly a sad day in Washington as well as for America!!!

  • marcyharris92

Gallup says only 4% of US citizens want any further gun control. Obama says 90% want gun control measures. Slight discrepancy and he calls the brave D Senators who bolted the party on this issue “liars!”

    • sandman

obalmer calls them liars, because he has no idea what the truth is!

  • James Maxwell

Mercy for once I agree with obams, but I think ever day he opens his mouth and trashed our
nation for his own person an political gain is shameful along with those in Congress who have
forgotten their oath of office and the peopel who elected them.

  • dicksi

Obama is a small-time community agitator elevated way above his abilities …. The Peter Principle writ large. To display his incompetence, he is either vacationing at taxpayer cost; campaigning; voting present or making a fool of himself on the world stage. I don’t think he has devoted one day in the last 4 ½ years to do his sworn duty of governing.

Obama’s response to gun control underscores his incompetence once again….Only in liberal thinking would the solution to mass murders by deranged gunmen be to make law abiding citizens more defenseless and subject to endless bureaucratic paper shuffling. As a result of this vote, Obama is already lining up additional executive actions according to “plugs” Biden.

  • Arrgh2112

I wish I could take credit for it, but the new name for dear leader is President Stompyfoot.

    • grannie

  • noncommie

  • grannie

OK The ball is rolling. Let’s keep it that way! The only shameful acts belong at obama’s door.

  • t-clef

  • ProudUSAVet

Yeah. What about Fast and Furious? What about the way Obama is trampling on the Constitution? How about all of those Jihadists he is placing in high positions in the Dept. of Homeland Security who are members of the Muslim Brotherhood? What about all the money he and Michelle are spending going on vacation and partying in the White House? What about all the lies to the American people? Etc., etc.

    • covert1969

  • PAJ

The only thing shameful was that this bill was EVER considered. It was nothing less than a direct assault on the Constitution in general, and the Bill of Rights specifically. Anyone that does not think so has forgotten, or never read the history and reason for the 2nd Amendment, or the rest of the Bill of Rights.
It is shameful that the world’s most powerful position was usurped by someone who was elected by 19 out of 50 states, that has NEVER completed an elected office until he took this one. It SHAMEFUL that he has lied about accomplishments, and continually blames others for his own personal and professional failures. And even 5 years into his “presidency” he continues to blame President’s Bush for all the Nation’s ills, even though he has the absolute worst record for ANY president
It is shameful that the people who voted for him believed he would keep his promises, after he proved he would not in his first term. That theses same people voted for him almost entirely on single issues, and those issues being supported by far less than a majority of the nation.
There are many things that are shameful, but the failure of congress to pass this bill is not one of them. It is instead something that should be seen as a tremendous success!

  • ves

The shameful thing is all the time and money wasted trying to take Legal US Citizens rights away!!

  • gdoggerz

A victory for the Constitution is shameful?!

  • disgusted

OMG I could watch his arrogant and pissed off face all day but this will just make him madder but then again this is where he starts to mess up. People are starting to wake up. He just can’t believe that people would dare vote against him. Well I feel sorry for the Dems that did vote against him because I am sure they will get it from all sides. I think Obummercare is next to go. NOONE can afford it. This is where the people need to come together and start letting Reps know they are going to be held accountable for their actions. We will not be timid or fear Obama or the Dems anymore. There is strength in numbers.

  • Ed Scott

Actually, it was a very shameful day for obama and comrades.

  • RonS

things were bad enough, and then, our illustrious president had to open his big mouth and further demonstrate how truly worthless his to lead this country. His cry baby show and his lock step media aren’t smart enough to wait and see how this investigation turns out ,they already have decided that it had to be a right wing NRA member who was responsible for the Boston bombing. One has to be vey proud of CNN And MSNBC,and the other Obama butt kissers for having such great insight.

Obummer is the most shameful LIAR I have EVER listened to! What arrogance!! One day eventually it will bite him in his crossbreed ass!

  • scott

since when is our legislative system a shameful day. the elected voters voted what their constituents wanted. I do not know where he gets 90% wanted this, but that just is not true.

It is long past time for a victory…Some democrats voted right for a change…They must post those names. They should be invited on talk shows….but not the view.

The founders foresaw a traitor dictator President like Obozo.

It was one of the few good days in Washington since before McCain ran…Bush kept us safe. This Muslim loving piece of garbage is only interested in what interests him….Being the King..

  • crq

    boy ain’t that the truth!

  • aggreen

***LOL! The day before, the liberal Gallup polling folks released a poll that showed only 4 percent of the people consider gun control legislation an important issue. Instead of a shameful day, it was a glorious day because for once the Senate did what the people wanted! Obama is shameful for lying about it!

  • chiefofcst

Every day since he was elected has been shameful days…today was a little less so!!!!

  • Denise Cranson

Thank god the senate finally found their ball$ for a change. I wouldn’t let this lull us into any sense of complacency though. Must maintain vigilance! Or they will sneak something else in when people aren’t looking.Too bad, so sad little baby BO didn’t get his way. I can only imagine the tantrum he had out of view of the cameras.

  • Josh

The spoiled brat thinks he has to get his way on everything. It upsets him very But eventually they will get everything they want this is inevitable. The problem I believe is we are basing selfdefense on a 2nd amendment right when it is actually a Biblical responsibility that we cannot let a mere man like Obama interfere with our Christian duties. For more on rights vs responsibilities go to If Christ is for us who can be against us?

  • Tom

It’s been shameful for 4 1/2 years. It’s been incompetent for 4 1/2 years. It’s been against the American people for 4 1/2 years. One of the advantages of winning majorities in the house and senate in 2014 will be the opportunity to impeach and remove the shame, incompetence and disrespect for the American people.

  • Benjamin Fox

All in all, glad the Hitler Obozo went down in fire, a real Nazi butt head and needs to get his illegal head out of where the sun don’t shine, his daddy satan just loves his kid. LOL

  • Idadho

Obama should know what a shameful day is. He has been at the center of so many since he was elected. Benghazi, the Saudi ‘person of interest’ being deported rather than held for questioning, dissing Israel and Bibbi, his many hissy fits, his wife’s extravagance when the country is struggling to pay the mortgage, his children’s extravagant trips, especially the one to South Africa where one was listed as ‘senior staff.’ Not much has been done by this administration that has not been shameful.

  • Kevin

I love to watch scrotum loose to the constitution. I wasn’t sure if we still have constitutional democrats in office.

  • Kathy Fugitt Price Skaggs

We already have laws that make it illegal for some people to have guns and they just go get them somewhere else the only thing these laws would have done is punish law abiding citizens, like they are doing in New York. Criminals will not buy their guns where they do background checks.

  • US Army (retired)

0bummer opened his pie hole and did the same thing he ALWAYS does, LIE, LIE and LIE some more. The village idiot from Kenya did NOT get his way and I was hoping he was going to show his true personality and fall down and scream, cry and stomp because he didn’t get his way. WAAAAHHH!!!!

  • IllinoisHostage

Impossible, Washington is populated by shameless A$$holes.

  • Melody Martin

I am reminded of some one else who used rope-a-dope to win battles, we all know his name. Now I am reminded that this is again the same ploy. Look, let’s out law guns or make outlaws of people who own guns when the economy that’s going down the tubes goes completely unnoticed. Sound familiar?

  • Frdmftr

I think Barry Soetoro alias Obama should have a time-out until he
    learns to obey the rules.
Seriously, though, we should celebrate, but post sober sentries on the
perimeter and avoid a hangover: Things are now going to get a lot
worse. The internationalists driving this Marxist Mafia infesting our
government are not going to stand still for defeat. Their agenda is
“whatever it takes, and soon.” If they can’t do it illegally with the
color of legality in Congressional action, they will do it however they
can. Executive orders; Pseudo-official and unofficial (vandalism, for
example) harassment of manufacturers, distributors, dealers, owners; false
flag ops not only to justify gun control by whatever means possible but also to
whip up a frenzy against gun owners, Christians, Constitutionalists,
Conservatives, anyone who gets in their way. We can also expect covert
hit squads not connected in any way with government, and they will include
professional assassination teams as well as drug cartels paid big money and
promised a free pass for their networks. If that sounds too scary to be
believed, sorry: That’s the kind of ruthless lawlessness they used in
setting up the First Bolshevik Revolution; I see no reason why they wouldn’t
use the same techniques today plus high-level technology to make it work
better. Keep your eyes open and your powder dry. Barry Soetoro is
pissed, and his bosses are pissed. His continued existence requires that
he let slip the dogs of war regardless of cost.

He might as well lay down, kick his feet and scream. Little men throw tantrums when not getting their way. It was a great day for the Americans that love their Constitution and their freedom. I turned the tv off when Obama started his ranting. Can’t stand to look at him or listen to him.

  • covert1969

Mr. Obama you are mistaken and we do not run this country on your emotions and others emotions, less than ten percent of the total population but through the Legisltive Process and made their positions clear which today worked as it is designed to ! Constituents who elected these Senators contacted according to our Constitution !

  • servant1jkb

THE Most shameful day in America, was the day we the idiots, VOTED YOU back into office!

  • Chris

All in all its been a pretty shameful 4-1/2 years in Washington since November 2008.

  • JohnHD

The most shamefull thing about Washington is man who wears the title of President of these United States. He has shamed us by apologizing for our action throughout the world. He has embraced the Muslims by bowing to an Arab leader indicating survitude. He has armed our enemies in Egypt. Refused to modify the sequester to eliminate our depletlng our Military’s strength. Ha has violated our Constitution, and now he disparages the Senate for bowing to the citizens will. I can’t wait intil we have this caricature of a president out of office.

  • Oldshooter

The misinformation rampant in the media about this topic is astounding. Under current federal laws, anyone who sells more than 5 guns per year (last time I checked) was required to call himself a “Gun Dealer” and get a federal Firearms LIcense (FFL). FFL dealers are required to fill out specific sales forms (4473s) and do a background check through the NICS system for ALL sales they make (with the possible exception of a privately owned gun, but this is fraught with potential legal problems and happens fairly rarely). This is true regardless of where the gun was advertised or actually sold, whether it is at a gun show, over the internet, through a newspaper want ad, or wherever. Only private citizens (who sell less than 5 guns per year) who are selling their personal gun, are currently allowed to sell (or give) a gun to another person without a NICS background check, and they couldn’t do such a check if they wanted to, because there is no mechanism for it. Private citizens do not have any access to the NICS system. All the BS in the media that is focused on WHERE the sale occurs is just that, “BS.” The law correctly focuses on the person making the sale rather than the place where it occurs.

  • Goodguy

the liar in chief is calling the NRA liars.

  • cwms2005

What’s shameful is equating the Islamic bombing blast as a vehicle to control guns. If anything this blast emphasizes the need for people to carry guns. We have a delusional President who seeks gun control as a stepping stone for other nefarious purposes.

  • Ray – God Bless Israel.

An Obituary printed in the London Times…
    Absolutely Dead Brilliant!

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

    – Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
    – Why the early bird gets the worm;
    – Life isn’t always fair;
    – And maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death,
-by his parents, Truth and Trust,
    -by his wife, Discretion,
    -by his daughter, Responsibility,
    -and by his son, Reason.

    He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers;
    – I Know My Rights
    – I Want It Now
    – Someone Else Is To Blame
    – I’m A Victim
    – Pay me for Doing Nothing

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

  • runnindeer

The shameful day was the one that he was elected to the White House the first time. The bigger shame was when he was put in and allowed to stay the second time.
