Video: Largemouth Bass Tries to Eat Same Sized Fish

Last weekend I had the pleasure of getting out and sticking my first largemouth of the season. It was one of our first really warm days here and the fish were going bonkers even though water temps we’re still in the 40s. I wasn’t one to argue.

I love a good day of fishing for bass, be it fly fishing, tenkara, or soft plastics. You know it’s all good and really warm weather is on the way when Mr. bucket-mouth starts chomping. That’s why I had to share this video one of my friends sent me the other day. I’ve seen bass eat some crazy things, like birds, snakes, obviously other fish but this one has to take the cake.

Enjoy and get out there and catch some bass.

Almost un believable but I have to believe my eyes cool! Obviously you were not hungry since you let them both go!

There may have been state size limits and they were both too small, or maybe the fisherman was just wanting larger bass. Catching them with your hands is cheating. Where’s the sport in that when they’re right at the top of the water. Throw them back and catch them with a lure.

You must have missed him saying more than once that both bass weree keepers my statement stands! Thanks for you input anyway!

I did miss that part, but even if they were “keeper” he may have been after larger bass. And he might just have been fishing for the fun of it instead of something to eat.

That was one greedy bass. I knew that when they started spawning that they would attack anything near their nests but that was ridiculous. Too funny. And it had it’s mouth stretched so wide trying to swallow the other fish it still hadn’t closed it when it was released.
