Eagle death at Nevada wind farm brings federal scrutiny

A single dead eagle could spell trouble for a White Pine County wind farm that sells power to NV Energy.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is conducting an investigation after a golden eagle was killed in late February at the Spring Valley Wind Farm, about 300 miles north of Las Vegas.

San Francisco-based Pattern Energy, which owns the 152-megawatt wind energy project, reported the dead bird and turned it over to federal authorities within 36 hours of its discovery.

“They did all the things they were supposed to because of an eagle death,” said Jeannie Stafford, spokeswoman for the Fish and Wildlife Service in Nevada.

Even so, the wind farm could face a fine of up to $200,000 because it does not hold a federal “take” permit that would allow the incidental death of a golden or bald eagle.

Stafford said the matter is under investigation by the service’s Office of Law Enforcement.

Uh…pardon me, but this is a whole lot of “a little too late”. There have been well over a hundred Golden/Mexican Eagle deaths from impacts with the massive blades among the many “wind farms” in the western US. Do a little research if you doubt. I wonder WHY this singular incidence makes it of such import? I wonder? There’s not a whole lot of difference to the average person in their ability to distinguish whether an eagle is a Golden or an immature Bald Eagle? White crown/head feathers don’t begin to appear until age 3 and do not become fully white until age 4 or so. How many eagles were the immature symbols or America? Just trying to get some thoughts going among fellow readers.

What difference does it make?? Stuff happens, we dont fine people 200,000 dollars for killing another person with their car accidentally. You just cant win with the liberals, you put up their windmills to generate electricity, and it still is not enough.

This is just another example of how idiotic our federal agencies have become. The company that did “The Right Thing” could have just disposed of the dead “BIRD” and these federal idiots would be none the wiser. Perhaps the blame really lies with the federal mandate for more renewable energy production without thinking of the hazard it would pose to the wild life. Hey! SH-T happens! A bunch of big fans spinning around all over the place and what! These bozo-ites think that birds are not going to get hit from time to time?

What’s the matter? The birds are just going to have to get use to the new Obama tree line. When are these birds going to get on the Go Green band wagon.Don’t they understand how these new tree size structures are going to improve the environment? The visual replacement of trees is progress but careful landing on one of the limbs!
One more living entity under attack in the name of Progress no matter what the effect.

Why are these “wind farms” in existence? The way I understand it, they do not produce that much electricity and kill thousands of birds. I bet these ecologists are torn: which do you support – the so-called energy saver or the birds? What a dilemma for environmentalists (sarcasm). Personally, I am opting for the birds.

This is Obama’s new energy. Why would an eagle make a difference. Oh, yea! The libs want to have their cake and eat it too.
