Colorado Rep Didn’t Know Her Bill Would Outlaw Nearly All Existing Magazines

Colorado Democratic Rep. Rhonda Fields, whose bill to ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds ignited an ongoing firestorm of protest and which could cost the state jobs if a manufacturer of such equipment makes good on its promise to move to another state, didn’t realize that her bill would outlaw practically every magazine currently for sale in the state.

That’s because the bill specifies that magazines that can be “readily converted” to hold more than 15 bullets will also be outlawed.

Practically every magazine on the market can be easily converted with readily available extenders, as demonstrated in a video posted by John Caldera, the president of the libertarian Independence Institute.

Colorado is becoming the new Mexifornia.

  • Steve Thomas

It figures. Another politician that doesn’t know feces from apple butter but is more than willing to write a law on a subject. Let’s hope that she buys a gun for herself and doesn’t know which way to point it when she shoots it.

    • sargentrage

      Amen to that

    • jstarusa

Lets just hope she learns to see the big picture before jumping to conclusions. Most times that will never happen though.

Just create an open season on them.

      • John Spencer

As a right wing, gun owning Californian, I cannot understand why libtards are fleeing California in droves and then attempting to set up the same nanny state mentality in the states they flee too. Haven’t they learned anything about extreme socialism? One definition of insanity, doing the same thing again and expecting different results.

        • DenverKitty

John, I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s criminal that they come here, to Colorado, and ruin yet another state. Kitty

          • mtncrusr

They already ruined Oregon and Washington.

        • Rosie46

Same things the Muslims are doing to this country and the illegals are doing to our communities.

    • IMSweetOlBob

Kitty: That’s “BUTCHERS of Benghazi. Please don’t anyone forget that Hitlery Clinton was involved up to her eyes and she was conviently injured and therefore could not testify in a timely fashon about her involvement in not furnishing protection for the now dead people. What difference does it make ?? She’s gearing up for a run for president, that’s the difference !

  • ron44

Fields has a felony record in Colorado and we as voters knew nothing about it. I didn’t vote for her and wouldn’t have. The question i have is how does one pass laws against the rites of others if you have violated the laws. The Denver Post and electronic media have never spoken of this and probably won’t.

  • MontieR

This is exactly why you do NOT allow ANYONE to put forth a bill without ANY real knowledge on the subject. It is also the prime reason for voting OUT ANY politician putting forth ANY more gun laws.

  • ves

Colorado …California lite .. land of IQ Challenged!
One of the elected officials trying to get this passed is an ex-con which I thought couldn’t vote!
    IDIOTS one and all!
I hope their weapons manufacturers are packing and Texas will be glad to see them!

    • bitterrootbill

We have a bid in for one here in Montana, and like Texas, we`ll be glad to put local folks to work. Colorado has about got both feet shot off by now. A real shame for such a rich and beautiful state to go down the tubes, but they are being abandoned by sporting/shooting interests in droves. I doubt they can survive on what the elites in Aspen contribute to their economy.

      • ves

Yep! Texas should have never allowed it to become another state when we joined the union!
It would still be a decent place to live!

  • Patriot_765

Always a bad idea to let stupid emotional folks make laws for all of us to live by.

  • conservative

When you’re so ill informed that you don’t know what the hell you are writing, you shouldn’t write anything.

  • http://batman-news.com Cooleemee Edd

Rhonda is pretty ignorant. I think she needs to either become truly educated (join the NRA and learn how to defend herself) or find another line of work. Maybe cleaning chickens at the local poultry plant.

  • jstarusa

Apparently she does not believe in researching her facts before opening mouth and inserting foot! Probably never even seen a clip before except in the movies. These supposedly “Know it all” should be Banned as they are dangerous to the rest of us!

    • garysvent

A graduate, summa cum laude, of the Nancy Pelosi School of Unintended Legislation, whose slogan is “teaching the world you gotta pass it before you know what’s in it!”

  • 2War Abn Vet

That is precisely the source of all our problems. Politicians continually pass laws while having to knowledge of the content or the consequences.

    • IMSweetOlBob

Vet: If she is truly, (That’s TRULY) sorry for introducing a bill that she didn’t know would do harm, let her call for a stopping of the bill now. Also let her go public with the info. that she doesn’t want the bill to be pushed by radical anti-gun nuts.
Should we hold our breaths while she pulls an Obama trick by saying “I didn’t know anything about it” ? Maybe she could get some suggestions from the person or persons that really wrote the bill for her about good excuses to uses now.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1124204284 James Camp

Typical libutard stupidity. Democraps writing about things they are ignorant of. Steve Thomas I agree with you.

  • rivahmitch

I don’t believe for a minute that she didn’t know. She’s another one who wants us defenseless when her Gestapo buddies or local thugs come calling. MOLON LABE!

BREAKING: Colorado Anti-Second Amendment Legislator’s Criminal Record Exposed
    March 6th, 2013 at 08:00 PM
According to a Colorado Bureau of Investigations report obtained by Media Trackers, State Representative Rhonda Fields (D-Aurora) was arrested in 1976 on a charge of larceny and again in 1991 on a charge of shoplifting. Despite her own criminal record, Rep. Fields has sought to limit the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.
An apparent mugshot of Fields was posted to the Magpul Industries Facebook page by a private user after legislation to limit gun magazine capacity, which was cosponsored by Fields, drove the company to announce that it was closing its doors in Colorado and moving out of state.
Rep. Fields has sponsored multiple gun control bills currently under debate in the Colorado Legislature, including legislation to ban on magazines with the capacity to hold more that 15 rounds, criminalize the private sale or transfer of a firearm without a background check, ban on concealed carry permits on the college campuses, and increase background check fees.
Fields has also co-sponsored Sen. Evie Hudak’s legislation which would not only strip anyone subject to a restraining order of their Second Amendment rights, but would also require the same to relinquish any firearms they own to the state.
Sen. Hudak has recently been in the national spotlight for remarks she made to rape survivor Amanda Collins. During testimony from Collins which detailed how her attacker was able to target her while she was unarmed due to a campus ban on concealed carry in Nevada, Hudak told Collins that “actually statistics are not on your side even if you had a gun.”
Additionally, Fields was the sole sponsor in the House to sign on to Sen. John Morse’s (D-Colorado Springs) legislation to institute civil liability on firearms manufacturers, sellers, and owner for any damage incurred through the use of their firearms.
Despite her criminal history, Rep. Fields has previously received campaign donations from the Aurora Police Association.
Media Trackers attempted to contact Fields at her office multiple times, but the Representative was unavailable for comment as the calls were unanswered.

A shoplifter in the legislature. How appropriate. A common thief is making law, and in so doing is trying to “shoplift” Coloradans rights away from them.

Sneak out the door, there Rep Fields. Don’t let ’em see what you got hiding in your trousers.

  • disgusted

The DUH award for the month. MAYBE YOU SHOULD READ THE BILLS YOU SIGN. One day you just might sign you way to jail, because that is where you belong. What a dumbazz. The whole fricking lot of them.Who wants to live in a crap state like Colorado anyway. It consistently goes down hill, thanks to the Dumbacrats. Well to all Coloradoans Vote them in again. You get what you pay for.

  • brabbie2002

She must be some relation to Pelosi…It is the old vote on it and then you can read it ploy! She knew exactly what she was doing, but her constituents are probably sending her hate mail right about now and she is trying her libtard best to save her seat and the one on her anatomy, too.

  • Average Joe

    She knew!!!

  • moparfan54

That is the problem, we have people writing legislation about things they know nothing about. They do not have the knowledge about the subject and no clue about the impact their “law” will inflict on the people expected to live by it.

  • Midwestmike

    You can’t teach stupid

  • Jack Black

Did she know that she has an arrest record for 2 larcenies and is trying to tell us what is right?

  • AmericanIcon

What I find frightening is not necessarily the blatant stupidity of our elected misrepresentatives, but the willful and malicious idiocy of those who elected them.

  • pysco

Thats what happends when people are writting bills that know nothing about arms…….State and Federal government has some of the stupid people serving. Example there is one Rep that believes Guam is going to flip over because of the size of its population…………….

  • jstarusa

Not having the knowledge required has never stopped a politician, and never will. They will jump on whatever bandwagon that will get them the most exposure, where bad or good for the majority. More bad than good, lately. Tunnel vision has always been a problem for them.

  • kenstaff

That’s the problem with most politicians they are too stupid to try and think for themselves!

  • liliq

And Feinstein doesn’t understand that no country in the world has ever fielded an AR15 but every 12 gauge every made since the US Civil War has had military application.

  • bob novak

Stupid biatch, its like Pelosi and the “we have to pass it to know whats in it” crap. What kind of people are they electing to public offices these days, never mind, I know, turnip headed idiots that smoked too much pot in college to understand how government works.

  • Lucky3511

That shows just how dumb America is becoming. They elect idiots who put bills through with no knowledge of what the bills do. We need a complete replacement government, Maybe getting people with intelligence into government instead of the dolts they have elected

  • Watchdogman

Check every time someone moves in from out of state…Ask, Are you a liberal? If they are tell them they are not welcome!

  • http://twitter.com/r1944gmailcom ron

She knew, she’s a felon. she is using this to benefit herself.

  • bobwhite1935

That is why idiots politicians should be removed from office & put in mental institutions.

  • ves

How many know the Big Mouthed Politician that is supporting all this crap is a Convicted FELON herself!!

How did she get elected and How was she Allowed to Vote???
Are people there just plain IDIOTS???

  • ocarol500

Knee jerk reactions always have unintended consequences.

  • CrustyOldGeezer

What the people of Colorado NEED TO DO is to make signs to carry around in protest mode.

(State rep or senator)”Rhonda Fields no longer wanted in Colorado!”

The same for each other criminal that violated their oath of office for political agendas.

Protest at the State Capital, each county seat, and the persons neighborhood.

Start leaning on the local DA’s about the violation of their oaths of office and never let up.

If hundreds, or possibly thousand show up carrying signs, the media will notice.

No politician wants a bad image plastered on the TV screens for weeks or months on end.

Use Alinsky’s rules for radicals against them.
