Obama threatening veterans’ gun rights

The Obama administration has launched into a campaign that threatens the Second Amendment rights of American military veterans, sending out letters that say their competency to handle their own affairs is being reviewed, and if determined by government bureaucrats to be unable to handle their affairs, they would be barred from having any weapons.

The issue is being raised by officials with the United States Justice Foundation, which takes up cases involving civil and religious rights.

In a statement posted on the organization’s website, Executive Director Michael Connelly said his organization is pursuing a Freedom of Information Act demand to the Department of Veterans Affairs to “force them to disclose the criteria they are using to place veterans on the background check list that keeps them from exercising their Second Amendment rights.”

    Has anyone researched what the VA Form 21-4138 is? it’s the form that vet’s use when seeking reconsideration of their disability rates, nothing to do with the deciding of whether or not their mentally or physically capable of taking care of their finances, does the form require addition evidence about their case? yes, you need to show a worsening of your condition to qualify for the increase. This is just one of the many websites that can be used to view the form and it’s intended use, http://www.ehow.com/how_6700929_increase-va-disability-rating.html . I will not debate whether or not the government is actually out to take a vets right to carry away, as I am not privvy to the thoughts of these people, I am in no way a “anti-gun” nut. have my own and will be getting the cwp in the next month. But I know there is nothing that is going to fuel the chaos already going on faster than a child molester, than threatening to attack our Vets. I stand behind our constitution and am willing to stand in front of it to protect it.

    Remember Homeland Security head labeled all of us “Veterans, constitutionalists, firearms owners, and Republicans” as most likely terrorists!!! And if I recall right, he is trying to make her a lifetime judge as well.

    I did not know that by signing up to allow myself to be killed defending these yokels would make me a terrorist who would kill anyone that I did not like. Seems that his group of “home grown terrorists” want to do just that.

      Many states, including Texas, have bills in the legislature this session stating that they won’t follow any federal gun control laws. Our local sheriffs are saying that they won’t enforce them in any event. Wonder if this will extend to vets the criminals in DC decide aren’t ‘competent’ to own one? We know this is only a part of their ‘get the guns out of the hands of those that can handle them and are willing to shoot us’ game plan.

      Personally I’d rather one of these ‘incompetent’ vets be beside me than most individuals I know when it comes time!

    I remember something about an oath. I will defend this country and the constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic. And the 21-4138 is a statement prepared by the vet to present evidence in support of his claim. It is not the form used to appoint a person in charge of the veterans financial business. The 21-4138 is not a form used to determine the competency of a veteran. That is done during a C&P exam by a physician who is trained to determine the competency of the veteran who has applied for this disability. I hope the Department of Justice Foundation pounds sand on this one. It is a huge violation of the 5th Amendment, and not to mention the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. We don’t even need to bring up the 2nd.

    Does it make sense that if a veteran is unable to competently manage his money then he is also unable to tell the difference between an intruder in his home and his wife or kids? I don’t see how one has anything to do with the other. A veteran who is found to be incompetent to manage his VA funds may also be very capable of other activities of daily living (housekeeping, shopping, laundry, etc.). How is such a himself so dangerous to himself or others that the government takes from him the most effective means/method of defending himself? The obvious answer is- ‘he is not a danger!’. I understand the government is under pressure to do something about violent crime and the recent horrific mass killings. But veterans should not be singled out because their medical records are readily available. All it does is tell us that we cannot be honest with our VA doctors for fear our mere thoughts will be used to disarm us. Obama really should think this one through. There are risks to taking away someome’s guns, especially if that person has defended this country using guns and now that he is no longer part of the military he cannot be trusted to know a good guy from a bad one. Dangerous ground………….

And every one of you who are yelling that he is going to are ignorant to the fact that through the food safety act that cranked food prices, decreasing ability of most people to stockpile, fuel prices limiting travel, ammo and weapon shortages decreasing the ability of those who have not yet armed up to do so, the return of the destruction of once fired brass by the military despite congressional order and law, again preventing ammo stockpiling by civilians… and his tethering people to their local welfare office, IS ALL he needs to do… YOU ARE HERE and you do not realize it.
