‘Carrying a Gun Saved My Life’: Meet Ryan Moore

On December 11, 2010, in Conyers, GA, 22-year-old Ryan Moore was at a friend’s house for an evening of leisure. He borrowed a friend’s car to drive to the nearby grocery store, where his handgun saved his life. I interviewed Ryan Moore over e-mail about that evening.

What happened that night at the Ingles (grocery store) parking lot?

I had parked near the front of the store. A man approached as I was about to get out, asking if I had some spare money he could use for gas. After replying I didn’t have any cash, he proceeded to walk away. As I was watching him leave, I then stepped out of the vehicle and was grabbed from behind by a man who put a knife to my neck. The first man then came back and demanded my keys and wallet.

How much time did you have to react?

It took a few seconds for me to realize what was happening. Once it dawned on me, I made the decision to fight back.

I grabbed the knife and pulled it away from my neck. After a brief struggle, I managed to push him away allowing me to create a few feet of distance, where I was able to draw my revolver from concealment and to fire in defense as he came back towards me with the knife.

  A big Amen to that. I am a strong advocate of the second amendment as well as the rest of the Constitution. I also have a CCH license. If obama had his way this man would have been dead and obama would be to blame if Mr. Moore followed obama’s unconstitutional laws. We are to follow the laws of the land but ONLY those laws that are NOT in direct conflict with the Constitution. The Constitution has preeminence over any other law that any government or little dictator may try and impose on the people. I will NOT now or ever turn in my guns just because the government wants them, besides they are well enough armed they don’t need mine to send to Mexican drug cartels.

  We should not have to even have a concealed carry…the second Amendment guarantees our rights period…but we have given our power to corrupt government officials and legislators so they can take our country from us.

      Perhaps some of you should look up the Tooele concept. Paraphrasing it means a man with a knife who is 21 feet or less from you can get to you and kill you with his knife before most armed citizens can draw their gun. A valid reason to practice with your carry weapon.

      Parlayer, DrBobNM has gotten more people killed then those brave enough to protect themselves. In combat he would be off and running and as I told him, I would shoot him for the better of everyone. Spent 12 years in the Marine Corps and I don’t run from anyone. @ SuperDuty Ford. Did you read the whole article? “I had a five shot Taurus 651 snub-nosed .357 magnum loaded with magnum defensive ammunition. After drawing, I fired three shots in about two seconds before the attacker with the knife turned and collapsed after taking a few steps. I then turned around expecting the second attacker to be there, only to see him fleeing the scene.”

if we allow our constitution to become a historical artifact we are done as a people. i swore an oath to my god to protect and defend that document. even if our politicians wont. i will die for something . i wont live to beg for nothing
