Father Of Slain 6-Year-Old Sandy Hook Victim: “Gun Laws Are Not The Problem”

On Monday in Hartford, Connecticut, Mark Mattioli spoke in front of a gun violence task force. Mattioli lost his six-year-old son James in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut back in December. “Gun laws are not the problem,” he said.

In an emotional testimony, Mattioli said that more gun laws would not solve the problem and that politicians who try and proclaim that the issue is “complex.” He believes there is simply a lack of civility and that “what we are seeing are symptoms of a bigger problem. This is a symptom. The problem is not gun laws. The problem is a lack of civility.”

Mattioli recalled his own experience as a young adult watching “R” rated movies and compared that with what comes on broadcast television today with regards to violence. He believes this is one of the symptoms.

Unrealistic excessive violence in Hollywood Movies and in computer games do have an effect on young minds who don’t separate reality from fiction. At a minimum, a disclaimer should be requried at the start of every movie or game where unrealistic violence is shown to remind the views or players that what they are about to see is in no way related to real life.

I’m sorry about his loss, that would be hard but, he is right, the person stolen the guns, killed his mother and anything but a armed guard could have stopped him, he was demonic and not the guns.

He is absolutely right. Children need to be nurtured but also taught respect. That there r consequence to your actions. They also need to be raised with God’s love and Grace. They do not need to be listen to this popular rap music or exposed to the music videos. They do not need to watch the violence on t.v. or in the movies. We need to be role models with high standards. Our Government leaders need to be role models with high standards. More gun laws are not the answer. In fact if every households had a gun for self defense you’d have less crime. That is of course every household that’s a law abiding citizen.

My heart and prayers goes out to all the families who lost children in Connecticut. This must have been very hard for this father to stand up and speak the truth over the loss of his child. I can’t even begin to put my feet in his shoes. However, He is absolutely correct. How is it that the Colorado shooter was dressed as the Joker from the movie “Batman”. And we are to believe that movies have no impact on some peoples actions. How is it that some music can sway your emotions such as dancing and romance? How is it that pornography can stimulate a person sexually? Then, all the Hollywood crowd comes out and washes there hands of the violence. After they made billions from there violent movies. I’m not saying that everyone who watches a violent movie will commit acts of violence. But since the movie industry wants to profit from gun violent movies and condemn Americans who chose to exercise there right to own firearms. Then I think it’s fare that they share in the responsibility along with the pharmaceutical companies and doctors who prescribe the psychotic drugs that most of the suspects in these violent acts are prescribed.

So Sorry for this families loss. No guns nor gun laws are the problem. Unfortunately the ‘ family ” unit is not what is was just a few years back. Stability and security are missing from a homes once filled with love and protection and w/out God …how so much more! Evil can be visitd upon any of us at any given time. Some demonic in nature. We have to have means to protect our family and loved ones when called upon to do so. Though gun protection is not always would be wise to have a gun well secured but available in case of an assault on your family. Be safe and protect your rights as an American citizen. Have a back up plan until after dialing 911* you just might save your life and someone elses’! Be safe.
