Can Barack Obama Ban Guns By Executive Order?

This week Vice President Joe Biden alluded to Barack Obama possibly using executive order to impose gun control. Biden said this during a meeting surrounded by several gun control groups and gun violence victims. The question on many people’s minds is, “Can this actually happen?”

First, let’s understand what an executive order actually is. It is supposed to be an order delivered by the President to those under his authority, sort of like the CEO of a company giving direction to those under him. According to the National Archives:

Executive orders are official documents, numbered consecutively, through which the President of the United States manages the operations of the Federal Government.

The text of Executive orders appears in the daily Federal Register as each Executive order is signed by the President and received by the Office of the Federal Register. The text of Executive orders beginning with Executive Order 7316 of March 13, 1936, also appears in the sequential editions of Title 3 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).

    NO. Obama can not simply write an EO that would in any way alter any amendment to our Constitution. He simply does not have that authority. If he takes it-he is violating his Oath of Office

    The answer to that question is: NO. He simply doesn’t have the authority to ban guns completely.

      He does not have the authority to ban guns at all. The U.S. Constitution is the last word on the subject, period. maosebama can kiss my shiney white ………you get the picture. When will you all realize, he is nothing, he has totally overstepped his authority, he is now an irrelevent child. The government works for us, we are not to be oppressed with welfare taxation, paying the way for his parasitic constituents. He has broken the law, by not enforcing our immigration laws, even the existing gun laws, he and holder have been selling fully automatic weapons to his druglords.

      The punk is not looking out for America, he is jumping through hoops for china and the u.n. They want us disarmed.

    If he attempts to overrule the 2nd Amendment by fiat we would have to depend on an intervention by the courts and we all know how dependable that can be. Remember that we are only one Supreme Court Justice away from a Progressive majority!! We currently have 4 Conservative Justices, 4 Progressive Justices and one Moderate Justice who can be unpredictable at best.

    No, and if he tries, he is declaring war on free America, it is our guns that earned our freedom, and it will be by OUR guns that we will keep it. Now, where are all the military, law men and women who swore to protect the U.S.Constitution? Which of them are going to TRY and imprison Americans for NOT giving up their weapons? When they come for your guns they no longer bear the oath that they will protect the U.S. Constitution thereby making them an enemy of the United States and a domestic armed terrorist and enemy.

    The answer is no, if he can do this he can do away with the Constitution and that isn’t good for freedom. The right to own a weapon is in the Constitution and if he can destroy that one, he can forget the rest of them and makes him another Hitler, in the Marine Corps for 12 years I lived by a code. “Live Free or Die” if you love this country then your code should be the same.
