Questions for Gun Control Zealots

In the wake of the Newtown horror, a call has gone up for a conversation about our gun laws. To that end, here are questions for advocates of gun control pushing for a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, among other new restrictions, to address school shootings.

What’s the functional difference between an assault weapon and a semiautomatic rifle? You do understand that the answer is “nothing”? An assault weapon is not an automatic weapon. It is semiautomatic like most guns now sold in the United States, i.e., it fires every time the trigger is pulled. What sets it apart is its scary-looking features.

What’s more powerful, the Bushmaster .223 used by Adam Lanza in his slaughter or the average deer-hunting rifle? If the answer is the average deer-hunting rifle — indeed, many states ban the Bushmaster .223 for deer hunting because it is too weak — will you attempt to ban them, too?

What gun law would have stopped Newtown? Please be specific. Adam Lanza’s mother didn’t have a criminal record. Neither did he. If the Bushmaster .223 had been banned, he could have done the same with a semiautomatic rifle.

I repeat , they don’t care , they don’t care about the constitution , they don’t care about American citizens defending themselves from the sick B–T–DS that their wimp laws and lawyers , that only care about criminals , refuse to put away and KEEP them put away , and otherwise why are the very FIRST crimes plea bargained away the thousands of gun crimes committed DAILY , and most important of all , they don’t care about the murdered kids except as weapons for their attacks . How can I say they don’t care about the murdered kids ? Because they PUSH the murder of thousands of them every year in abortion mills .

    • It’s amazing how with such far less gun controls and lapse regulations, years ago, we never had any problems with acts of violence and senseless killings like we have today. Most of these killings occur in areas with very strict gun laws. It’s the people not the devices that needs to be targeted and identified. IF these people care so much about totally defenseless innocent kids being killed then why aren’t they clambering for changes to our Abortion Laws which allow Abortion on demand for such senseless reasons as just not wanting to be pregnant, in other words birth control. At least in the schools the kids could dodge and run and try to escape but the most innocent and defenseless kids are sucked out with a vacuum or pulled out by pliers or tweezers and allowed to die or killed outright before being pulled or sucked out. What about all the drunks that kill innocent kids and families? Where is the cries for laws or ways to prevent this for far more are killed this way in our Nation than ever have been shot in schools?

This article is not fair. It brings forward the truth while asking hard questions to liberals with the mandate that they “Be Specific” with their responses.

Way to much for a liberal to process.

This constant scare term “assault weapon” that we hear from the lib/socialist media has been made up to frighten the public. These poor souls go to movies or watch TV shows, and see criminals blazing away indiscriminately with such weapons in these fictitious settings. They don’t realize that true fully automatic weapons have been strictly controlled since 1934, and are only seen in the hands of a class III dealer or a government approved buyer. The actual number of “assault weapon” crimes in this country since 1934 is miniscule. The AKs and AR-15s sold in this country are semi-automatic just like many other sporting weapons; they just look “mean” to the ignorant. Perhaps, if we painted them pink the problem would be resolved.

Just as a side note: the passage of the 1934 law was required due to a massive crime wave caused directly by the last brilliant government idea – Prohibition.

I wish I could give you more then one “thumbs up” 😉

  • Had the founders of the Nation and Government had the foreknowledge to actually know how large and powerful our nation would become and how great a military we would have they might have rethought their draft of the 2nd amendment but as it was written and the intent was that ordinary citizens would and should have the right to own, purchase, buy, construct, obtain and possess, military style weapons so if needed to militia to either fight a foreign enemy or keep our own government from becoming dictating and totally out of control they could use them to do so. To protect a person’s own house and life was never the main thought of the 2nd amendment but was already assumed to be a personal right of every citizen. The founders wanted to add a check and balance against out of control Government but again they never in their wildest thought envisioned a Nation that we have become and the potential dangers that come with the number of people we have. Ironic that those freedoms and Government that they constructed actually led to the massive desires to come and be citizens here which ultimately created the problems that they never did nor could have envisioned. If there is to be a limitation or rewriting of the 2nd Amendment then it should go through the process all other amendments have done and not be legislated by the President, Congress or even the Courts.

Prohibition of guns will stop crime at least as well as the prohibition of alcohol did.

Actually, while well meaning, this article is full of beans. An assault rifle is NOT a semi-automatic as the media has for years trying to convince you of. An assault rifle is a light to medium weapon capable of sustained fully automatic or burst fire. I get tired of hearing them call our target and sporting weapons assault rifles.
