Grand Rapids Ultimate Sport Show gets outdoor enthusiasts fired up for spring

As if the unseasonably warm weather wasn’t enough to get you ready for spring, the Ultimate Sport Show at DeVos Place hits town Thursday to scratch your outdoors itch.

The show boasts more than 200 booths of fishing, hunting and outdoors equipment and information with nearly 100 fishing and hunting seminars being held on four different stages, one of which is a 110,000 gallon indoor lake dubbed “Lake Ultimate.”

For the hunters, a Big Buck Night will be filmed for Michigan Out-of-Doors TV show with hunters sharing stories of their trophies Thursday evening.

Hunters will also have the opportunity to learn about deer processing from a leader in the business, Steve Francis, owner of Country Smoke House of Almont Township. On Saturday starting at 6 p.m., Francis will start with a fresh deer and go through each step of the process from field dressing, butchering and processing your next whitetail.
