Florida Attorney General Tells State Supreme Court Carrying A Gun Is Always A Crime

FL Attorney General Pam Bondi’s position is that anyone carrying a gun should always be presumed to be a committing a felony. And apparently, everyone is carrying…

[A]n overwhelming majority of Floridians are not licensed to carry concealed weapons. As of August 31, 2012, the number of concealed weapon or firearm permits issued in Florida is 971,263. Where Florida had an estimated population of 19,057,542 in 2011, the percentage of the population that is licensed to carry a concealed weapon is only five percent (5%). Given the small percentage of the population that is licensed to carry a concealed firearm, the overwhelming majority of firearms, or 95%, are not licensed to be concealed. Thus, an officer’s suspicion that a firearm is not licensed would be reasonable because, in any given case, there would be, statistically speaking, a 95% likelihood of illegality.

Obviously, this cannot go without answer. ”What will be our reply?!” you ask…

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Or have the Communists running the country now ever heard of that? Not that they would care a great deal if they had.

I think Pam Bondi is a woman, but… If the old saying were true that if “those who live by the sword, die by the sword” it should also work for words and thoughts. If it did this woman would have committed suicide by having stupid ideas! This is simply another idiot lawyer twisting words around and then having diarhea of the mouth!

My retirement now has to find another State. With all the crimes they have there am really surprised. What w/ the Cubans & Cartels you better become quite good at Karate, or any of the other martial arts. I cannot believe that they put such idiots in high places……Whoops I do believe they do that…aka the WH/oval office.

Having been aware of Pam Bondi’s career for several yrs, I have a hard time believing that what has been printed about the statement is accurate. Pam is a committed conservative & has shown a lot of toughness in that vein. Was the statement taken out of context? I’d sure like to know – to me it just doesn’t coincide with her conservative record. BTW, I am a avid hunter & own several firearms & have been an NRA member since 1984. This puzzles me! Another thing about the article that has me wondering: it is my understanding that Florida has a concealed carry provision that doesn’t require a permit/license. I know that in my home state of Arizona anyone without a felony conviction or a domestic violence misdemeanor conviction may carry concealed. Az also has a ccw permit that one can acquire thru taking an 8 hr course. This article gives me great pause as to the validity of the statements contained within.
