Store customers subdue knife-wielding robber
A would-be convenience store robber in Independence got a taste of citizen resistance — and a welt on the head. He could also get jail time.
Police said customers at the store took action to stop a man who was running around with a knife and demanding money.
Patrick J.E. Maze, 28, of Independence, was overpowered by the customers.
He was charged Friday with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
