Man gets more than he bargained for while trying to steal copper from couple

A member of a Camp Hill family reportedly fired shots at a man fleeing from their home early Sunday morning.

Police say the thief was trying to steal copper tubing from the home’s central air conditioning.

Arthur Birdsall was awakened by his wife when she thought she heard an intruder at the home in the 2400 block of Dickinson Avenue in Camp Hill. He chased the man away.

Birdsall said he looked out the window and saw a pickup truck parked on Deanhurst Avenue. His wife saw a man ripping apart their air conditioner.
