MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) –A Frayser woman thwarted a carjacking when police said she pulled her pistol on the suspect.
Police said the woman was gathering belongings in her car when the suspect came up to her. It’s likely that he didn’t know she was packing a pistol.(Uuuhh ya think?)
This story is a classic example of a good-guy (gal) with a gun stopping a thug in broad daylight. These parasites prey on the weak. They look for easy targets and pounce, and unfortunately all to often their targets are women.
Police said the suspect, with one hand in his pocket simulating a weapon, aggressively ordered the woman to get out of her car. That’s when she pulled a gun out and he ran away.
Fortunately, it sounds like the criminal didn’t actually have a weapon. Nevertheless, being armed and knowing how to use a weapon in a situation like this not only saved this woman’s property, but potentially her life as well.
“Maybe that’s what people need to do, you know, for protection,” neighbor Ricky Hammett said.
“You know, they want to take [guns] from people now but, in reality, you need something to defend yourself. It’s bad out here,” neighbor Eric Schermerhorn said.
The neighbor’s quote is pure gold. Especially in a dump like Memphis…
I can say that since Memphis is my hometown.
Unfortunately over the past 20 years, the inner-city criminal element has creeped it’s way into the surrounding areas, destroying formally great neighborhoods. things have gotten so bad that those that can afford it are leaving in a mass exodus.
I mentioned to some relatives last time I was there about visiting my childhood home, and was quickly scolded for even thinking about venturing into my old neighborhood (especially after dark).
So yes, Mr. Eric hit the nail right on the head. Law abiding citizens should definitely arm themselves.
