Miss South Carolina a straight shooter.
During the Miss America pageant on Sunday night, contestant Miss South Carolina was asked a Second Amendment question by the judges. While her answer wasn’t exactly controversial, it has many believing that it ended up costing her the competition.
Daja Dial was on stage when she was asked by the judge what she thought about an assault weapons ban, according to the Political Insider. While many would expect the typical liberal response for such a loaded question, Dial gave anything but that, and it had conservatives across the nation cheering.
“Do you support a ban on military-style assault weapons?” asked the judge.
Thankfully, Miss South Carolina used the opportunity to spread awareness about gun safety rather than gun bans, and without hesitation she fired back at the judge, “If we teach people the proper way to use guns, then we will reduce the risk of having gun-related accidents.”
“It starts with education,” added Dial.
Some people pointed out that while her reply may have been spot on, it also could have cost her the competition, since she didn’t end up winning, but came quite close.
