Pistol-packing pastor shoots alleged burglar at Baytown church

Suspect was carrying stolen electronics from the church building

Baytown police say a suspected burglar picked the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person on the other side of the door.

Lee Marvin Blue, 27, is accused of busting down a door at the Church of New Beginnings on N. Alexander Drive around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday. Asleep inside was the church’s pastor, Benny Holmes.

Police said when Blue entered the church by force, Pastor Holmes heard the commotion and confronted Blue with his 9mm pistol.

Surveillance video shows Blue trying to knock down the door and then forcing his way into the church.

According to a police statement, Blue was found to be carrying a large box filled with electronics taken from the church. The pastor asked Blue to put the box down, but Blue allegedly made a quick motion toward the pastor.

Pastor Holmes discharged one round from his 9mm semi-automatic pistol, striking Blue in his right shoulder.
