Memphis Begins Efforts to ACTUALLY Dig Up Confederate General. This is Not a Gag

Tennessee law protects all their war memorials and states unequivocally that “No statue, monument, memorial, nameplate, or plaque … located on public property, may be relocated, removed, altered, renamed, rededicated, or otherwise disturbed.”

You think that stops the crazy Maoist wannabes on the Left? Nope.

They are a bunch of sickos and here’s the proof:

From Conservative Tribune:

In the wake of liberal lunacy regarding the Confederate flag and, really, all things Southern, Memphis City Council recently voted unanimously to disinter (DIG UP) and relocate the bodies of Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife, dead and buried for 110 years, along with the memorial statue marking their burial spot.

Unfortunately for the Memphis City Council, there are laws on the books in Tennessee that should prevent them from carrying out their ghoulish plan.

They also lack the support of the descendants of the Forrest family, who are staunchly opposed to exhuming and moving the bodies and statue.

In fact, there are two specific statutes in Tennessee law that should stop the Memphis City Council in its tracks.

Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 46, Chapter 4, deals with the functions of disinterment, and requires not only justification for digging up long-buried bodies, but a judge’s approval as well.

According to the law, bodies may only be moved if a burial ground is found to have been abandoned, seriously neglected or somehow rendered “inconsistent with due and proper reverence or respect for the memory of the dead.”

None of those justifications appear to have been met at this time, although the third point could potentially be twisted by liberal logic.

On top of that, “No statue, monument, memorial, nameplate, plaque, historic flag display, school, street, bridge, building, park, preserve, or reserve … erected for, or named or dedicated in honor of, any historical military figure, historical military event, military organization, or military unit, and is located on public property, may be renamed or rededicated.

Seems that exceptions are made when Democrat Senators are involved though:

List from Freedom Outpost:

City Council member Myron Lowery affirmed that when he said, “It is no longer politically correct to glorify someone who was a slave trader, someone who was a racist on public property.”
Except if that person is Dem Senator Robert Byrd, right? Here is a list of what KKK Kleagle Byrd’s name appears on in West Virginia:
