Hillary Joins Call For Gun Control: ‘How Many People Do We Need To See Cut Down?’

“We will not forsake those who have been victimized by gun violence,” she said. “This time we have to find answers together.”

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke about the church shooting in South Carolina today, during a campaign speech in Las Vegas at the National Association of Latino Elected Officials.

“The shock and pain of this crime of hate strikes deep…It just broke my heart,” she said as she opened her remarks to promote her presidential campaign.

But her tone moved quickly toward more gun control, asking Americans to face “hard truths about race, violence, guns and division.”

“How many innocent people in our country — from little children, to church members to movie theater attendees — how many people do we need to see cut down before we act?” she asked, referring to the Sandy Hook massacre and the Aurora theater shootings.
