Weekend shooting competition will benefit wounded Marine

Proceeds from a shooting competition Memorial Day weekend at the Albany Rifle and Pistol Club will go to help build a home in Hillsboro for a Marine wounded in Afghanistan.

The competition is at 29999 Saddle Butte Road near Shedd.

Participants must pre-register at www.arpcveteranbenefit.info. Each event is limited to 72 participants, and the entry fee is $85 per match, which includes a catered dinner at the Linn County Fair & Expo Center.

The event on Saturday, May 26, is a “run and gun” rifle match in which shooters engage diverse targets at distances ranging from 5 feet to 400 yards. On Sunday, May 27, the match is for practical shot-gunners and includes engaging clay targets in flight as well as mixed targets on the grounds.
