Barton said he will be moving away from Clark County after this ordeal.
A Washington-state man was convicted by a jury after following the advice of the vice president.
Jeffrey C. Barton, 53 was warned by one of his neighbors that strangers were going through his vehicles. Barton confronted them and punched one in the face. Then, to scare them off, Barton fired three rounds into the air, according to The Columbian.
Barton defended his actions, saying that he was only following the advice given to him by Vice President Joe Biden:
“I did what Joe Biden told me to do. I went outside and fired my shotgun in the air.”
He felt that the advice would help him defend his family while preventing him from killing an intruder:
“The thunder of a 12 gauge, it will turn a tweaker into a track star,” Barton said. “I could have shot him dead, and I chose not to take a life. I did exactly, exactly, what Joe Biden said to do.”
