Bear found by teen will stay in Wisconsin zoo

An infant black bear illegally plucked from the woods by a Gold Hill teenager and taken home last month is now living in a Wisconsin zoo, the latest game animal lost to the wild because of misguided human intervention, authorities say.

The unidentified teenager told the Oregon State Police that he found the young bear in mid-April while hiking in the Table Rocks area and took it home, according to OSP.

The bear stayed there briefly before the boy’s family on April 22 notified Wildlife Images Rehabilitation Center in Merlin because members could not care for it, OSP officials said.
