Why Do USDA Meat Inspectors Need Machine Guns?

Need I point out the hypocritical irony that one of the most virulent anti gun administrations in American history is arming up every government agency it can with as much firepower as they can.

You know the USDA…they’re the guys who go around and put labels on meat. The main goals of the United States Department of Agriculture include creating and maintaining a model for food production, environmental concerns, and a safe and healthy food supply.

Sounds pretty tame. Make sure food grows and is safe. Basically it sounds like USDA inspectors spend most of their time with their hands either down in the soil or up the business end of a cow.

Tell me then WHY does the USDA need 85 machine guns?

That’s right, thanks to legislation passed during President Bush’s time in office and acted upon by the Obama administration the USDA is being outfitted with a whole bevy of military grade machine guns. The .40 caliber sub machine guns were delivered to the USDA on September 9th.
